How to Settle Existing Positions in MT5 (Mac)
In MT5, you can execute a market close at any time during trading hours. The method for market closing varies slightly depending on whether one-click trading is enabled.
How to Close with One-Click Trading Enabled
The methods for market closing with one-click trading enabled are mainly two:
・Close from the Toolbox
・Close on the Chart
Closing from the Toolbox①
Click the '×' button at the far right of the position you wish to close in the 'Trade Tab' of the Toolbox to close it.
Closing from the Toolbox②
Right-click on the position you want to close within the 'Trade Tab' of the Toolbox and select 'Close', which will close the position.
Closing from the Chart
Right-click on the line indicating the position or the closing order on the chart, and select 'Close' from the menu that appears to close the position.
How to Close without One-Click Trading Enabled
The method for market closing without one-click trading is done through the position window.
The main methods to display the position window are:
・From the Toolbox
・From the Chart
Displaying from the Toolbox①
Click the '×' button at the far right of the position you wish to close in the 'Trade Tab' of the Toolbox to display it.
Displaying from the Toolbox②
Right-click on the position you want to close within the 'Trade Tab' of the Toolbox and select 'Close', which will display it.
Displaying from the Chart
Right-click on the line indicating the position or the closing order on the chart, and select 'Close' from the menu that appears to display it.
Closing in the Position Window
Click the yellow market close button in the displayed position window to complete the closure.
How to Partially Close an Existing Position in MT5
In MT5, you can also partially close an existing position.
Partial closure of positions is mainly done from the Terminal.
Double-click on the position you wish to partially close in the 'Trade Tab' of the Toolbox.
Change the quantity in the displayed position window to the number of lots you want to close, and tapping the yellow market close button will only close the specified number of lots.
Bulk Operation Methods for Existing Positions
When one-click trading is enabled, you can perform bulk operations on existing positions and orders. For example, you can close all positions at once or close only the positions that are at a loss.
Right-click on the position you want to close in the 'Trade Tab' of the Toolbox, and select the process you want to perform from 'Bulk Operation' within the displayed menu.
Bulk operations include the following actions:
・'Close all positions': Closes all positions you hold.
・'Close profitable positions': Closes all positions that are profitable.
・'Close losing positions': Closes all positions that are at a loss.
・'Close positions of (stock name)': Closes all positions of that stock.
・'Close buy (or sell) positions of (stock name)': Closes all buy or sell positions of that stock only.
・'Settle with (stock name)': Not available.
