How to Draw Vertical Lines in MT5 (Mac)

In MT5, you can draw vertical lines on the chart to mark specific times. This guide explains how to draw, move, configure, and delete a vertical line.

How to Draw a Vertical Line

To draw a vertical line, first switch the cursor to vertical line mode. There are two ways to do this:

Method 1

Select "Insert" → "Objects" → "Vertical Line" from the menu.

Method 2

Click the vertical line icon on the toolbar.

Once in vertical line mode, the cursor on the chart changes.

Move the cursor to the desired position and click to draw the vertical line. After drawing, the cursor returns to normal mode.

Double-click the drawn vertical line, then drag to move it.

Detailed Settings in the Line Properties Window

Right-click on the selected vertical line and choose "Properties" from the menu to open the properties window. You can make detailed adjustments using its three tabs ("Common", "Parameters", "Visualization").

"Common" Tab

The "Common" tab lets you set the line's name, description, color, thickness, and type, and choose whether to show the line in the background.

"Parameters" Tab

The "Parameters" tab lets you specify the position of the vertical line by time.

"Visualization" Tab

The "Visualization" tab lets you choose the timeframes on which the vertical line is shown. Uncheck "Show on all timeframes" to show it only on selected timeframes.

Deleting a Line

To delete a vertical line, right-click on the selected line and choose "Delete" from the menu.
