How to Modify or Cancel Orders on MT4 (Android) Trading Screen
When you tap "Trade" in the bottom menu, your open positions and pending orders (new limit and stop orders) will be displayed.
From here, you can modify or cancel pending orders.
Note: To change the price levels of an existing limit/stop order (the entry price, Stop Loss, or Take Profit), see the dedicated guide How to Modify Limit / Stop Order Prices on MT4 (Android).
- The standard procedure for modifying a pending order (Stop Loss / Take Profit / price / expiry).
- The procedure for cancelling a pending order.
- The default action is tap-the-order → menu. Swipe-right-to-left is also supported as a shortcut for cancellation.
- Margin is released immediately after cancellation — no delay before reuse.
- Offline behavior: actions are queued in the app and synced when the device reconnects.
1. How to Modify Pending Orders from the Trade Screen
Tap the order you want to modify in the "Trade" screen.

Select "Modify Order" from the displayed menu.

Enter the changes (Stop Loss / Take Profit levels, price, or expiry) on the order screen and tap "Modify" to update the order.

2. How to Cancel Pending Orders from the Trade Screen
Tap the order you want to cancel in the "Trade" screen, select "Delete Order" from the displayed menu, and tap "Delete" on the confirmation screen to cancel the order.

Tip: You can also cancel by swiping the order from right to left in the trade list (a shortcut). A confirmation prompt appears — tap "Delete" to finalize.
3. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1:When does a modification take effect?
Modifications take effect immediately upon server acknowledgment. From that moment the new conditions (Stop Loss, Take Profit, price, expiry) are applied to matching logic.
Q2:What happens to an order whose expiry passes?
A pending limit/stop order whose expiry time has elapsed is cancelled automatically and removed from the trade list. The associated margin is released right away. To restore the order, place a new one with an updated expiry.
Q3:When is margin returned after cancellation?
The margin is released immediately when the cancellation is confirmed and credited back to your free balance. There is essentially no lag, though heavy server traffic can introduce a few seconds of delay.
Q4:Are there limits on how close Stop Loss / Take Profit can be set?
MT4 enforces a minimum stop distance (Stops Level) based on the instrument and your leverage settings; SL/TP placed too close to the entry are rejected. If you receive an error, check the instrument's permitted minimum distance on the order screen.
Q5:What happens if I modify or cancel while offline?
Actions taken offline are queued inside the app and synced once the device is back online. However, if the order has already been filled before sync, the queued modify or cancel becomes invalid. For high-priority order management, we recommend acting while online.
