How to Draw Horizontal Lines in MT5 (Mac)

In MT5, you can draw horizontal lines on the chart to mark specific prices. This guide explains how to draw, move, configure, and delete a horizontal line.

How to Draw a Horizontal Line

To draw a horizontal line, first switch the cursor to horizontal line mode. There are two ways to do this:

Method 1

Select "Insert" → "Objects" → "Horizontal Line" from the menu.

Method 2

Click the horizontal line icon on the toolbar.

Once in horizontal line mode, the cursor on the chart changes.

Move the cursor to the desired position and click to draw the horizontal line. After drawing, the cursor returns to normal mode.

Double-click the drawn horizontal line, then drag to move it.

Detailed Settings in the Line Properties Window

Right-click on the selected horizontal line and choose "Properties" from the menu to open the properties window. You can make detailed adjustments using its three tabs ("Common", "Parameters", "Visualization").

"Common" Tab

The "Common" tab lets you set the line's name, description, color, thickness, and type, and choose whether to show the line in the background.

"Parameters" Tab

The "Parameters" tab lets you specify the position of the horizontal line by price.

"Visualization" Tab

The "Visualization" tab lets you choose the timeframes on which the horizontal line is shown. Uncheck "Show on all timeframes" to show it only on selected timeframes.

Deleting a Line

To delete a horizontal line, right-click on the selected line and choose "Delete" from the menu.
